Why A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS Stands the Test of Time
By Tess Farrand, Associate Content Editor
“I never thought it was such a bad little tree. It’s not bad at all, really. Maybe it just needs a little love.” – Linus Van Pelt, A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS
This timeless quote continues to inspire people, as a CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS enthralls and transcends generations.
A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS stands the test of time because it promotes the message all moviegoers need: Jesus.
In the movie, commercialization takes away the beauty of the true meaning of Christmas until a profound scene with Charlie’s best friend, Linus.
While rehearsing for a Christmas play, Linus takes center stage to recite the Christmas story from the Bible.
He ends by saying, “And that’s what Christmas is all about Charlie Brown.”
Cue the waterworks.
Charlie Brown’s character has an impressive arc for just a 25-minute TV movie. Some viewers might even identify themselves as Charlie, looking for meaning and coming up with no answers. That’s why A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS appeals to our hearts and emotions to recall one of the most historic moments in history.
Sure many generations grew up loving The Peanuts characters, but for others, the classic holiday flick may be “there” and not really a movie priority during the Christmas season.
However, no matter one’s age, the power of A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS lies within the message that Charlie Brown learns.

Let’s take a page out of Charlie’s book this year and dwell on Christ’s birth and not the over-commercialization of the season.
Let’s take time to pause and turn our gaze upwards in gratitude.
Thank You Jesus for coming in human form to reconcile us with God. We are eternally grateful.
