‘We Have Been Saved Through Faith’: Tim Tebow Emphasizes Importance of Staying Humble

In a recent interview, football star Tim Tebow is reflecting on the importance of staying humble.
“Understanding the Gospel, I think, really does humble us because we didn’t do anything to earn it,” Tebow explained. “We don’t deserve it. I don’t deserve it. For by Grace, we have been saved through faith. It is not of our works so that we can’t boast.”
He went on to say that it’s not about “how good we are,” but rather “how perfect Jesus is.”
“I think when you understand the gravity and the severity of the Gospel, there’s nothing that we get to brag about,” Tebow said.
The football star also explained that, the further you read in the Scriptures, the more you realize God’s love for humanity.
“God loved us enough to send his son on a rescue mission for us and has offered us this free gift by Grace and Grace alone,” Tebow said. “And that is humbling, and when we think that we did something for it, we just missed the mark.”
He then spoke of his desire to point others towards Christ and encourage people in their faith.
“I want the impact to be that, if they don’t know Jesus, that they know how much Jesus loves them and that one day maybe they say ‘yes’ to believing that Jesus loves them enough to go to the cross for them,” Tebow explained. “And they believe what he did on the cross … counted for them.”
One of his latest faith-based projects is a devotional, titled “Mission Possible.” Movieguide® previously reported:
In a new video, football star Tim Tebow is asking Christians about their commitment to reading the Bible and encouraging them to make it part of their everyday routine.
“Don’t get me wrong, I love coffee too! But it’s interesting to think about how committed we are to morning tasks like making coffee,” Tebow captioned his video.
He continued, “Imagine if we were as committed to being in His presence and His word every morning as we are to coffee. Instead of saying, ‘Before I start my day, I need coffee,’ saying, ‘Before I start my day, I need Jesus!’ Wow, that would be life-changing, and more life-giving than a cup of coffee could ever be.”
In the video, Tebow said, “Literally as we were getting ready to film, we were brewing this coffee, and I could read multiple devotionals in the time that this coffee brewed. And I was just thinking, ‘If we did that every day, we would be brewing coffee for energy and focus, but we would be brewing our soul for what God has in store for our lives.’”
The video was made to promote Tebow’s upcoming devotional, the Mission Possible One-Year Devotional: 365 Days of Inspiration for Pursuing Your God-Given Purpose.
In a post announcing the book, Tebow wrote:

With daily devotions written by me and some of the inspirational people I have encountered in my life, including those we have served through the @timtebowfoundation, my prayer is that this devotional will give you 365 days of inspiration to help you live a meaningful life.
