More Detail:
The movie MAYBE…MAYBE NOT is the first German worldwide comedy hit. Regrettably, the moral character of the movie revolves around sexual promiscuity. The woman Axel loves, his girlfriend Doro , has just thrown him out. She caught him having random sex with a customer in a bathroom stall. Normally, this wouldn’t be a problem for him. With his good looks and endearing manner, he should easily be able to snag another girl. At first, Axel tries to find an ex-girlfriend who will take him until he finds a new place to live, but his reputation precedes him. When he has no success, he takes the only offer left: to sleep in the apartment of a homosexual acquaintance named Norbert who would like nothing better than to seduce him.
Though this movie makes claims to being “funny and unexpectedly heartwarming,” its moments of genuine humor and human emotion are overshadowed by the general offensiveness of its sexual content. Its heterosexual protagonist is as promiscuous and misguided as the homosexual community he encounters. Though it unintentionally presents an eye-opening commentary on the sad consequences of hedonism, both homosexual and heterosexual, the film is really not worth the price of admission. In the end, moral moviegoers will say…definitely not!
