More Detail:

SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON is a rollicking good family movie, adapted from the famous classic Christian novel by Johann Wyss. Christian elements are highlighted throughout the script. Set in the early 1800s, the story centers on the Robinson family as they work together to survive while stranded on an island. Their faith, family bonds and perseverance help them build a home, work together and fight off a band of pirates.

The movie begins as the Robinson family, including Mother, Father and three sons named Fritz, Ernst and Francis sail toward New Guinea. However, the family is shipwrecked near the shore of a deserted island and must make their way towards land.

Upon landing on the island, the Robinson family begin building a shelter on the beach. They quickly learn they must build a shelter within the trees, so that they can be protected from the island’s wildlife. Father Robinson and his sons build a fortress in the trees that they call home.

The two eldest sons, Fritz and Ernst, decide to sail around the island to see if there’s any civilization nearby. The siblings stumble upon a band of pirates who have a man and his granddaughter, Roberta, held captive. Fritz and Ernst set Roberta free, but she’s dressed as a boy to keep her identity a secret from the pirates.

While the three make their way back towards the Robinson camp, Roberta reveals her identity to the boys. At home, the three boys compete for her attention, but it becomes clear she has feelings for Fritz.

The Robinson family prepares for the pirates by creating makeshift weapons to fight them.
