She starts to realize her boss’ folly in wanting to defund the base. However, a surprise event catches Erica off guard. Eventually, she must decide what’s important, her job or helping people in need.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS DROP is a bit cookie-cutter in its story and could use better comedy. However, the movie’s historical background, good performances and heartfelt messages overshadow any blandness. The movie is full of patriotism, selfless giving and family values. Finally, although there’s no mention of the Nativity or Jesus, the movie strongly promotes Christian, biblical values such as humility, sacrifice and love. OPERATION CHRISTMAS DROP is a movie families can enjoy together.

More Detail:

OPERATION CHRISTMAS DROP is a holiday romantic comedy streaming n Netflix about a Congressional aide named Erica, who’s forced by her boss to travel to Gaum and work over the Christmas holidays against the backdrop of Anderson Air Force Base’s annual humanitarian Christmas drop. The comedy in OPERATION CHRISTMAS DROP is hit or miss, but the movie’s historical background, good performances and heartfelt messages of humility, sacrifice, love, and Christmas cheer overshadow the blandness.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS DROP has the backdrop of the real-life Operation Christmas Drop, which started in 1952 after Andersen Air Force base started the Department of Defense’s longest-running humanitarian airlift operation. It is a highly dramatized story about the importance of love, selflessness, and family.

The movie opens with a plane dropping a crate of supplies over a tropical ocean to an island below. Cut to Erica (Kat Graham), a Congressional aide in Washington, doing some last-minute Christmas shopping. Her co-worker shows her a picture of an attractive Air Force captain wearing a Santa Hat.

The movie introduces Capt. Andrew Jantz, who works on Andersen Air Force base. He’s trying to facetime his family, but the internet connection eventually disconnects him. Andrew meets up with his team on the tarmac, and they begin to plan the base’s annual Operation Christmas Drop and all the fundraising and festivities required.

Erica, whose mother died a few years ago, feels unexcited for family Christmas. However, after chatting with her boss, Congresswoman Bradford, she doesn’t need to worry about going home. Her boss forces her to go to Gaum to write a report to defund the Air Base facility. Erica is reluctant to spend Christmas on an island, but, with the prospect of a promotion, she promises to do her best.

Erica arrives at the base and meets Capt. Jantz. Andrew’s tasked with showing her around the base to convince her that their operations are putting tax dollars to good use. The two clash instantly, however. Andrew tries to avoid telling her about Operation Christmas Drop. However, Erica has seen an article about the drop with his picture and knows that Christmas is a big deal at the base.

Erica believes her job will be easy until Andrew starts showing her how their humanitarian efforts help the people around them. After a visit to an island, Erica seems to be changing her mind about both her purpose there and Andrew.

Andrew offers to take her snorkeling to give her a real tropical Christmas experience. Right as they begin to warm up to each other, Erica receives an urgent call from her boss. Erica must decide what is most important: Her work or her newfound appreciation for everything Andrew and the base do for people in need. Erica sees Andrew’s sacrifice his well-being for the good of others every day. However, after an unexpected event, Erica must decide whether she wants to make the same sacrifice.
