Great American Media CEO Bill Abbott opened up about Great American Media’s mission is more important than ever during a recent interview with Movieguide®.

“The environment is not exactly favorable overall to launch a linear cable channel, certainly. But, you know, we’ve been blessed with an enormous amount of passion and energy, and we unfortunately live in a world where family-friendly, faith-based entertainment is so rare that it makes our jobs much easier because there’s such a need, and we’re just fulfilling that need,” Abbott shared on the “We Who Dad Salute You” podcast.

The CEO then talked about the importance of fostering relationships with those who create uplifting content.

“They have a very difficult job because they’re also battling the headwinds in Hollywood and creating content that, you know, the vast majority of studios wouldn’t touch,” Abbott said. “And so they very much appreciate the fact that we’re so committed to it.

“And then we have a really strong team that I think complements their work on the creative side and tries to be additive to storytelling and let the careers do their thing, but from the same point of view, ensure it’s on brand for what we know that viewers will love. And so it’s a team,” he added.

Great American Media’s reach continues to grow. Just last month, Great American Family and Great American Faith & Living joined YouTube TV’s live channel lineup.

“This agreement ensures that Great American Family is available live to even more viewers across the country,” Abbott said of the new expansion. “YouTube TV has become a vital platform for families who want the best of traditional cable channels in a modern streaming package, and we are excited to make our networks part of their lineup.”

This comes at the perfect time as Great American Family launches its fifth annual Great American Christmas, which kicked off on Oct. 9. Abbott told Movieguide®, “It seems like you can’t start too early. Viewers just love that feeling, and they love the anticipation of the season.”

Great American Christmas runs through Dec. 21.

“As we celebrate the fifth year of Great American Christmas, it is a reminder of just how special this tradition has become. Our storytelling is rooted in faith, family, and the true spirit of the season – Christmas as it is meant to be,” Abbott said of the 2025 lineup. “Each year, we strive to create films that not only warm hearts but also bring people together in joy and reflection. Reaching this milestone reinforces our commitment to offering viewers stories that honor timeless values and the wonder of Christmas.”

It’s inspiring to see company filled with passionate and determined people who love the Lord and want to create faith-based, family-oriented content.
