Actress Jen Lilley says she “never thought” she would write a devotional.
“It was wild,” she told Movieguide® of her first book, Wake Up Your Faith: 365 Daily Encounters With Jesus, adding, “I never thought I would write a devotional.”
However, after a conversation with Suzanne Niles, from Christian book publisher BroadStreet Publishing, Lilley started to seriously consider it.
“I just did a lot of fasting and praying and was like, ‘Lord, what do you want to say to people?’ And I was starting to write devotionals about things that I thought were important,” she shared.
Lilley continued, “Every single day, I’m so convicted because I feel like the Holy Spirit wrote it and just used me as an instrument.”

The actress called Wake Up Your Faith’s messages “a journey we walk on together,” adding, “I need the devotional as much as other people.”
Lilley announced the publication of Wake Up Your Faith in September, writing in an Instagram post, “My prayer in writing it was simple: that it wouldn’t just be another book on your shelf, but a companion that draws you into the heart of God every single day. That it would stir your heart and faith in a way you’ve never experienced. That it would call you to greater depths and understanding of who He is and ignite you with a passion and deep yearning to love God and people more sincerely than ever before.”
The actress is also preparing for the release of her latest Christmas movie, HOLIDAY HEARTS.
“This project is incredibly special to me. The script is one of the most powerful and moving stories I’ve ever read,” Lilley told Northern Virginia Magazine. “Aside from an incredible script and star power, HOLIDAY HEARTS is the first in a potential trilogy, making this a holiday franchise for years to come.”
She continued, “The film focuses on themes of second chances, charity, and love, which are perfect for the holiday season. My work in foster care and philanthropy adds extra depth to my connection and love for this film.”
Lilley shared that she loves working on Christmas movies for “the profound impact they have on viewers,” many of whom might be struggling with grief or loss during the holiday season.
“So, while these movies might not garner an Academy Award nomination, they’re a genre I’m extremely grateful to be part of because they’re impacting lives and bringing people peace and joy!” she said.
From her brand new book to upcoming movie projects, it looks like Lilley has a lot to celebrate in the coming holiday season!
