Flourish Your Faith Films and Fathom Entertainment teamed up for the release of THAT THEY MAY BE ONE, a docudrama exploring Christian unity.
“Inspired by Jesus’ prayer in John 17:21, ‘…that they may all be one,’ this powerful film explores the theme of Christian unity across history and in the present day,” a press release explains, sharing that the movie “masterfully blends compelling documentary-style interviews with leading voices in the faith community and dramatic reenactments that bring key moments to life.”
It continues, “The film invites Christians from all traditions to pursue deeper unity in Christ through prayer, action and reliance on the Holy Spirit to heal divisions and amplify the Gospel’s witness to the world.”

THAT THEY MAY BE ONE includes commentary from Catholic and Protestant leaders, such as Fr. Mathias Thelen, Pastor James Ward and evangelist Francis Chan. Catholic biblical scholar Dr. Mary Healy, a professor at Sacred Heart Major Seminary, is a producer on the project and also shares her own theological insights in the docudrama.
It also features dramatic reenactments of events like “Blessed Elena Guerra and Pope Leo’s communication by letter, the early baptisms of the Holy Spirit in Stone’s Folly and Azusa Street, and even scenes from the Bible, such as Jesus’ Priestly Prayer in John 17 and Pentecost,” per the movie’s website.
The website also explains that the movie seeks “to highlight both the historical roots of Christian division and contemporary efforts toward reconciliation, encouraging prayer, repentance and evangelization.”
“THAT THEY MAY BE ONE is a call for Christians everywhere to let our hearts beat with the heart of Christ, who prayed on the night before He died for unity among all who believe in him,” Healy said. “We are honored to bring this inspiring message to theatres nationwide, creating an opportunity for churches, families and individuals to experience the film together, be renewed in zeal for unity, and take new steps to heal the divisions in Christ’s body.”
Flourish Your Faith Films “plants and waters seeds of Christian faith through the power of the Holy Spirit” with their projects, with previous titles including SING A LITTLE LOUDER and TEST OF FIRE.
“We seek a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit, as on the day of Pentecost, resulting in greater sanctification, unity among Christians, and evangelization to the world,” their website reads.
THAT THEY BE MAY ONE will premiere in theaters nationwide May 19.
