Mike and Carrie Get Real About Marriage in Last Episode of I Am Second® Series

By Allyson Vannatta, Senior Writer

In the last episode of MIKE AND CARRIE: GOD & COUNTRY, the couple talks about their marriage and how compromise is a key part.

The example Mike and Carrie use when talking about compromise is how Mike tries to not eat beef and shoots all of his meat. This is a big compromise to him as Carrie is a vegan.

The country singer jokes that her life would be almost perfect if Mike were to be a vegan or vegetarian.

“That’s the thing about marriage, you don’t have to be on the same page about everything,” Carrie said.

Carrie then talked about how the one thing they don’t compromise on is their faith.

She said, “First and foremost is our faith. We know God brought us together and trust his judgement. Then, just finding ways to compromise through it.”

Finally, the former NHL player described how their marriage isn’t perfect.

“As the world sees it, we’ve been blessed with a lot of things, and doing what we love to do and money and fame,” Mike explained. “But, there is no true happiness in the things that everyone sees that should be great with us apart from a real relationship with God and with Jesus.”

He continued, “We’re not perfect. We don’t have a perfect marriage. But, we have that one thing in our fiath and that’s why we’re here to glorify God with what we’ve been given. Hopefully we point people to the answer.”

Movieguide® previously reported how the couple talked about how prayer was a normal part of their life.

Mike also encouraged viewers that, “It can’t just be about knowing about God or about Jesus. It has to be about really following.”
