Pastor Greg Laurie encourages people to view the death of Charlie Kirk as a “wake-up call” to create a relationship with Christ.

“We ask the question, ‘Why did God allow our friend Charlie Kirk to die at such a young age? Why was this tragedy allowed?’” he said while speaking at AmFest 2025. “And my answer is simple — I don’t know. But I know this much. Despite this horrible tragedy that took place, God has taken it and used it to touch thousands of people around the nation and around the world.”

Laurie continued, “There’s 33,000 people who gathered here at AmFest, and think about Bible sales going up, church attendance going up, people saying they’ve given their lives to Christ since what happened to Charlie.”

“I’m not saying God had this happen so all these great things would happen,” he said. “I’m saying, despite the tragedy, God has done amazing things, and maybe this is your wake-up call today. Maybe you’re saying, ‘I need a relationship with Christ like Charlie Kirk had,’ and you can have it.”

Laurie then led the crowd in a prayer, saying, “I turn from my sin now and I choose to follow You from this moment forward as my Savior and Lord, as my God and friend.”

Many other speakers took time to honor Kirk, who was shot and killed earlier this year, during their time onstage at AmFest.

Vice President JD Vance said, “Let me just say the best way to honor Charlie is that none of us here should be doing something after Charlie’s death that he himself refused to do in life. He invited all of us here…Charlie invited all of us here for a reason, because he believed that each of us, all of us, had something worth saying.”

During an appearance on FOX & FRIENDS, former college swimmer Riley Gaines shared, “Charlie changed the world not just by speaking, but by listening and by pointing a lost generation to faith and to eternal hope, which is in Christ.”

A statement put out by Kirk’s organization, Turning Point USA, stated, “At AmericaFest 2025, we gather to honor Charlie’s legacy — to continue the mission he began and to celebrate the country he loved.”

Kirk’s death shocked millions around the world, but his supporters are choosing to carry on his message of faith and patriotism, directing others towards a relationship with Christ.
