Christian hip-hop artist Trip Lee switched gears for his latest project, jumping into worship music to create an album for congregational singing.
“It has been something that’s on my heart for a while,” Lee said on an episode of the “Southside Rabbi” podcast. When people ask him why he chose to do something outside of his normal genre, he attributes the shift to his “creative ambition.”

“This worship project is something I’m really excited to share with people,” he continued. “Now, when people hear [about this] worship project, maybe they’ll think, well, now it’s just rapping and maybe some worshipy hooks. Or maybe it’s just Trip Lee singing.” He clarified, “No. This is meant to be songs that I’ve written for Christians to sing together. I want churches to be able to sing these. I want small groups to be able to sing these.”
Lee will produce and write the project, called Brag Worship, but he won’t be on every track.
“I’ve brought in other people to sing,” he said. “I think Scripture teaches really clearly [that] you were made by God to make much of God. That’s what you exist for, to point to the bigness, the goodness, the superiority, the majesty, the strength of God. That’s what your life is about,” he added. “This worship expression is called ‘Brag Worship.’”
Lee has been with Reach Records for many years now and desires to “step up and meet people where they are.”
“While the challenges that come with a busy lifestyle can sometimes abound — Trip recently relocated from Dallas to Atlanta to help plant a church — the grace with which he navigates his many roles is nothing if not inspiring. It’s never been about busyness for its own sake, but a commitment to a cause greater than all — the cause of spreading Hope,” Reach Records wrote on their website.
Lee’s new album will feature artists including Naomi Raine, Madison Ryann Ward, DOE, Jonathan Traylor, Taylor Hill and Leah Smith.
“I want there to be more worship music,” he said when describing the project. “I’m trying to put a lot of the vulnerable acknowledging how hard life is, making much of who God is, because that is one of the things I think why our views a little limit is because we think of worship as music. It’s not. Worship is responding to the greatness of God. It is bowing before God. It is serving God. It is every moment of your life. This is one of the ways that we worship God is through music. And so my prayer is the Lord will use it to help people do that.”
“It’s a very unusual kind of project for me to do. It’s very vulnerable,” Lee added. “I’m very excited, bro. We’ll see how people respond.”
Lee’s new album will debut sometime in 2026.
