Actress Turns Daily Workout into Prayer Time

For actress Alexa PenaVega, there’s no better time to pray than during her daily workout.

“Okay, I just did some rebounding, and now I’m throwing on makeup,” she shared in a recent Instagram video.

Rebounding is a type of workout involving exercising on a trampoline.

“It’s a great time to be praying and asking God, ‘Alright, God, where in these areas of my body do I need more connection to you? Are there any areas of my life that I’m lacking peace? God, just come in and please fill that space up,’” PenaVega explained.

The SPY KIDS actress often shares her prayer routine with social media followers. During a recent appearance on the “Made for More” podcast, PenaVega said she and her husband Carlos prioritize prayer, especially when things are “easy.”

“Because either we aren’t a threat to the enemy, and I need to be, or like something…and not like we’re waiting for the ball to drop, but it’s this, like, is our heart posture still in the right place?” she explained. “Because then when trials do come, it’s not like you’re having to kind of figure it out if your heart’s staying the same. Then when things come, you can go, ‘Okay, Lord, wasn’t expecting this, but my heart, I trust you.’ Like it’s not wavering back and forth, teetering on how things, how circumstances go.”

PenaVega continued, “It’s like a triathlon. It’s like getting hit with a triathlon that you haven’t been training for, but…if you’ve been training the whole time, you could hit that triathlon without any issues. And just like, it’s true. If you’re about to be hit, you better hope you’ve been prayed up.”

PenaVega recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of one of her biggest projects, SPY KIDS, alongside onscreen brother Daryl Sabara.

“We’re family, you know? We’re brother and sister forever, and the only person in my life who knows what I went through is her and vice versa,” Sabara told Parade.

PenaVega added, “Yeah, not a lot of people understand what a special bond that we have, but even outside of that, the whole movie is based off of family and unity, so it’s so cool that we are still such a family unit 25 years later.”

“And now we both have our own families too, and to get our families together, we’ve done that before, which has been really fun and really special,” Sabara shared.

Whether it’s her morning workout routine or reconnecting with old friends, PenaVega keeps her faith at the center.
