Actress Alexa PenaVega reminded her followers the importance of this basic tenet of the Christian faith— prayer.

“I have been in this season, and God is like putting this word on me a ton, and it is pray about everything, worry about nothing, over and over and over again, just really feeling, pray about everything, worry about nothing,” PenaVega posted on Instagram.

While the SPY KIDS star and husband Carlos are not ones to often fret over things, she says they both have a tendency to take control of a situation before seeking God first.

“We like taking things into our own hands and trying to make things work if they’re not working, or we just make it more stressful on ourselves than we need to…” the actress admitted. “God was just like, ‘I am already going into these spaces before you, way before you…[A]m I not covering? Is my hand not on you?’”

This is a good and biblical reminder for believers as it says in Philippians 4:6, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”

What is one thing that the Lord has spoken to the Miami native about in her times of prayer? How much Christ loves her.

“God really wants me to remember how He sees me, so a lot of my prayer life was always like, ‘God, I love you so much, thank you so much…I love you, Jesus’…like really outwardly pouring out,” PenaVega revealed on “The Upload Life” podcast.

“He really has been working on my heart in this season of like, ‘Hey, can you just remind yourself that I love you too.’” she continued. “So, when I wake up in the morning, or if I’m driving…I also remind myself… ‘Jesus loves me, Jesus loves me, God loves me,’ and I genuinely, when I say that, I feel it, like internally at my core there is something that goes on, because, like you said, life and death are in the power of the tongue.”

Joy is another topic that both she and husband Carlos feel passionately about, especially as they learned to navigate the loss of their daughter, Indy, who was stillborn in 2024.

“Yes, it was heartbreaking and it was really hard for our family to walk through that season, but it was also a gift because we all live in a very different way than we were,” the mother of four explained in an interview with PEOPLE magazine.

“[Indy’s] been such a gift to us in every way. She’s brought us closer as a couple, closer as a family, closer to our community — and closer to God, who’s shown us a kind of peace and purpose we didn’t know was possible,” she said.

The couple talk about leaning on their faith in times of grief in their upcoming book Joy Isn’t Canceled: What Grief Taught Us About Pain, Peace, and Purpose.

We pray that God continues to use the PenaVegas’ story to touch lives, especially those who are working through loss and grief.
