Actors Alexa and Carlos PenaVega remembered their daughter, Indy, on her birthday this month.
“Two years ago today we lost our beautiful daughter Indy. Her little life transformed ours and will always be a gift to us,” Alexa wrote on Instagram. Indy was stillborn on April 13, 2024.
Alexa shared a photo of her three children holding a framed picture of Indy.
“Never in a million years did we ever fathom having to walk through the death of our own child. But here we are today navigating grief and joy like a little dance,” she continued. “Never did we know that out of deep pain a joy could spark within us. A miraculous joy that can only come from God. He used Indy’s life to plant a seed within us. He gave our family a fresh lens, a new purpose and a joy for what we do have here on earth,” she said. “She will always be a part of everything we do and not a day will go by without remembering the heaven that awaits us with her in it.”
Influencer and model Brittany Lutz also had a stillborn child.

She commented on Alexa’s post, “Their lives weren’t what we planned for them but their impact for the kingdom and the stories their lives will continue to tell will always remain ❤️❤️❤️”
Alexa and Carlos have shared a lot about how Indy has made their lives better, even though she wasn’t in them for very long.
“It sounds nuts because it’s the worst thing that ever happened in my life,” Alexa explained this year in episode of “The Upload” podcast.
But “[God] just completely used this awful experience and situation and He showed us so much good through it,” Carlos said.
Just one month after they lost Indy in 2024, Alexa said that Indy’s death was the worst thing they have ever experienced.
“But it’s been really incredible to see how God has just moved through our family,” said. “During this time, we have obviously felt a lot of pain. A lot of pain. But also, an insane amount of peace.”
She calls their loss “pain with purpose.”
“Our family has never been stronger, my faith has never been stronger, my marriage has never been stronger,” the star said. “Her life was so purposeful in just that short little bit that we had with her. And while she may not have taken a breath here on earth, she did not go without purpose.”
It’s a terrible thing to lose a child, but it’s wonderful that their family miraculously felt peace through their pain and that Indy’s story positively impacts many other grieving families.
