Are more celebrities turning to God? Former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany thinks so and spoke about the trend with Pastor Allen Jackson.
“We are seeing this wave of celebrities and athletes changing and finding peace,” she began. “I had a beautiful conversation with Olympian Ryan Lochte, who had some troubles in his life. And the spiritual transformation I saw in him as he was tearing up — you could see the Holy Spirit moving in him. We are seeing this. Do you believe we are in the midst of a revival of some sort?”
“I think, without any question, God is moving in the earth in the most remarkable ways,” Jackson affirmed, “and if we will focus our attention on that, we’ll be filled with hope.”
“If we keep looking at the expressions of darkness, we’ll be filled with fear, to be honest,” he added. “And so I couldn’t agree with you more. Whether it’s Riley Gaines or we see Hamas and Hezbollah being greatly diminished, I mean, God’s moving in the earth, and I think we should be celebrating that every day.”
Jackson’s encouragement to focus on God powerfully echoes the Bible’s command in Philippians 4:8. It says, “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”

Olympian Ryan Lochte certainly has a powerful testimony. After a near-fatal car accident, he “lost who I was.” But when he went to church, he desired the transformation only God can bring and got baptized.
“I washed away my sins and, trust me, I had a lot,” Lochte joked. “And I washed away my sins, and me going to church and finding that to put your life in front of God and give it to God has changed everything for me. I’m finding who I am. I am being a better father, a better person, and I just love the person that I’ve become now. And I owe it to God. And it is just an amazing feeling.”
Another celeb who experienced Christ’s transformation? Country artist Jelly Roll. After a life of addiction and jail time, he found all he needed in Jesus.
“There’s a Scripture in the Bible that says in Christ all things are a new creation, which I thought was interesting because it didn’t talk about restoring the old,” Jelly Roll said during an appearance on THE JOE ROGAN EXPERIENCE. “It says that in God we are a completely new creation. You know what I mean?”
He continued, “I was looking at it at first like I’m restoring my heart. But then when you’re saying that, I’m like, ‘No, I didn’t restore my heart. I got a whole new heart. This is a brand new heart, Joe. You know what I mean? It might be cloaked as the old one, but God touched it. It’s a whole new heart, baby. It’s a different heart.”
Faith’s influence certainly is on the rise.
A Pew Research study suggests that 31% of adults believe that religion is “gaining influence in American life,” the highest reported number in 15 years. The study added that “Overall, 59% of US adults express a positive view of religion’s influence on American life. Either they say that religion’s influence is growing and this is good, or they say that religion’s influence is declining and this is bad.”
As more and more come to faith, we can rejoice that more people are seeing the truth and walking in it.
