Clean comedian Nate Bargatze’s new family-friendly movie, THE BREADWINNER, released last weekend, and your whole family will love it.

“I love that when people can go out, they can all go together,” he told podcaster Theo Von of THE BREADWINNER.

“I want to go to stuff with my family. So, you go look at a lot of movies now, it’s like a lot of horror movies or it’s like a Marvel movie or something, or it’s animated. Like, there are no live-action movies like this, I think, that are being made that are PG, and it’s kind of the direction that I wanted to head in,” Bargatze said of his heart behind the movie.

While he didn’t created THE BREADWINNER specifically “for kids,” “kids can come.”

“The point is that your kids don’t have to leave the room,” he added.

THE BREADWINNER follows Bargatze’s character, a salesman and dad named Nate Wilcox, after his wife, Katie (Mandy Moore), the “ultimate mom,” lands a “once-in-a-lifetime deal on SHARK TANK,” which “takes her on a prolonged business trip.”

“Nate has to figure out how to keep the house from (literally) falling apart. He and his kids soon learn that while he may not do it like mom, he can figure out how to do it his way. Welcome to the dad era,” a synopsis of the movie reads.

Part of Movieguide®’s -1 review for the film reads:

THE BREADWINNER is a very funny, entertaining movie. The movie has a strong moral, pro-family worldview. The father cuts some corners, leading to comical chaos. He also lies when his wife calls to ask how things are going. Eventually, the lies catch up with him, but truth and love help fix everything. There’s also some repentance and forgiveness, which lead to a rebirth and renewal. THE BREADWINNER has some light profanities. Also, the eldest teenage daughter gets interested in a popular boy at school. MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for younger children.

Family fun has been at THE BREADWINNER’s heart from the beginning. Bargatze even made it more affordable for families to go together.

“This movie has been a long time coming and I’m thankful for everyone who helped make it happen,” Bargatze wrote on Instagram shortly before its opening. “One thing that mattered to me with this film was making tickets more affordable. Growing up, going to the movies with my family was one of my favorite things to do. I remember it being something families could actually afford to do together without it breaking the bank. I wanted to bring that back for families, which is why I created special, lower ticket pricing called the ‘Nate Rate.’ You can check your local theater’s website to see what your Nate Rate offer is.”

You and your family can catch THE BREADWINNER at a theater near you.
