New York Knicks Trey Jemison wants his followers to praise God for all that He’s blessed them with before asking Him to do great things in 2026.

In a recent Instagram Bible study, the athlete read the story of Jesus healing the 10 lepers, found in Luke 17:11-19:

While traveling to Jerusalem, he passed between Samaria and Galilee. As he entered a village, ten men with leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and raised their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” When he saw them, he told them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And while they were going, they were cleansed. But one of them, seeing that he was healed, returned and, with a loud voice, gave glory to God. He fell facedown at his feet, thanking him. And he was a Samaritan. Then Jesus said, “Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Didn’t any return to give glory to God except this foreigner?” And he told him, “Get up and go on your way. Your faith has saved you.”

“This verse reminded me that before I start setting the goals, before I start praying for more and more, I gotta be thankful for what God has already done,” Jemison said. “I’m willing to bet my whole NBA cup check and say God has blessed you 100 times. For 2025, you can sit down and write it out. God been so good in your life. Don’t take it for granted how good God has been.”

The center continued: “And I want you to have a great 2026, but I can look back at 2025 and be like, ‘Dang. Look how good God has really been in my life.’ Look how He showed up and showed out. He stuck up for you, how He healed you, and He protected you. He woke you up each and every day. You gotta be grateful for the day.”

He challenged viewers to “thank God for all He has done.”

“Because He didn’t have to do it, but He did, and He’s still going,” Jemison concluded.

The athlete often uses his platform to point his fans to God.

“… I sit in this position of doing Bible studies, not out of professing I’m Jesus or anything, but as if I’m a young man chasing God, trying to get closer to God,” he explained in another recent Instagram Bible study.

After his team secured the NBA Cup Finals win earlier this month, Jemison said, “Blessed to be a part of history.”

Whether you had an incredible 2025 or experienced hardship, we can follow the example Paul gave in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
