Nickelodeon Announces PAW PATROL Spin-Off Series RUBBLE & CREW

By Movieguide® Contributor

Nickelodeon is giving PAW PATROL fans a first-look at the upcoming spin-off series RUBBLE & CREW.

RUBBLE & CREW will follow Rubble and his family as they construct buildings and help repair things in the town of Builder Cove.

New characters like Grandpa Gravel, Auntie Crane, and cousins Mix, Wheeler, Charger, and Motor will help Rubble build bridges, schools, fire stations, and parks.

Ramsey Naito, President, Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation, said, “RUBBLE & CREW is an all-new series focusing on family and community, and it’s filled with new characters and big adventures that lean into construction play patterns that will let the audience engage in a whole new way.”

Jennifer Dodge, the President of Entertainment and Executive Producer at Spin Master, who is partnering with Paramount for the show, said, “Our new series expands Rubble’s world with storytelling that digs into amazing construction projects and the importance of family, combined with high-stakes action, fun adventures and messy demolition that preschoolers will love.”

PAW PATROL is hugely popular with children, and many parents have praised it for its family-friendly content. Movieguide® previously reported

While Disney+ and Netflix are the frontrunners for streaming, smaller streamers like Paramount Plus are carving out their audiences of their own in one of the fastest-growing markets in entertainment.

Paramount Plus’ early success mirrors Disney’s model of focussing on family-friendly content, which saw Disney+ skyrocket to compete with Netflix within a year after launch.

Paramount Plus has capitalized on young audiences with family content such as PAW PATROL: THE MOVIE, setting ViacomCBS’ streaming platform apart.

Movieguide® reported.

PAW PATROL: THE MOVIE has a strong moral worldview with light Christian imagery. It celebrates friendship, helping people in need and the idea of adoption. There are two politically correct cross dressing moments. In one, a dog says, “it’s not important how it looks; it’s how it makes you feel,” when a boy puppy accidentally dresses in girl’s clothes. Otherwise, however, PAW PATROL: THE MOVIE is a delightful animated feature of the popular TV program, with plenty of laughs and adventure.

Another significant draw to Paramount Plus came from its catalog of Nickelodeon shows like SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS, PAW PATROL, and iCARLY.

“The most important thing for Paramount plus now is exposing consumers to the offering, especially as we ramp up content,” ViacomCBS president-CEO Bob Bakish said.

RUBBLE & CREW will premiere on Nickelodeon on February 3 at 11:30 a.m. EST.
