REPENTANCE, a 1984 Russian movie made in the Georgian province of the old Soviet Union, was banned for several years in its homeland because it exposes the evils of communism, statism and totalitarianism while lifting up the suffering Church and the triumphant, eternal Church of Christ Jesus. Christians should see and support REPENTANCE, which tells an allegory about the Soviet Union under Stalin by focusing on the story of a small-town communist mayor who tries to destroy all individuality and Christianity, but ends up destroying himself and his family.

BITTER HARVEST
BITTER HARVEST is a must-see, dramatic, powerful story about the horrible devastation of Ukraine by the Soviet communist atheists in 1932-33, known as Holodomor and officially condemned by the United Nations and confessed by the Russian government. The movie tells this story through the eyes of a young man from a farming village and his fiancée, with a strong Christian worldview, from an Eastern Orthodox perspective.

FOR GREATER GLORY is a memorable movie about the resistance against the socialist president of Mexico in the 1920s who tried to shut down all the Christian churches forcibly, including shooting innocent people. Despite too many subplots, FOR GREATER GLORY is a very important, captivating movie extolling religious liberty, but caution is advised for some violence.

ELENI is the greatest movie about a mother’s love in the face of adversity. It is the true story of a mother who was murdered by the communists during the Greek Civil War. Eleni proclaims, “Christ is risen” on Easter, prays to God and concludes before her execution with the touching statement that “It is such a joy to be a mother that I thank God for letting me know it.”

John Frankenheimer’s Cold War thriller about a Korean War prisoner of war who is brainwashed into becoming a coldly efficient assassin by his Communist captors. THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE is one of the best insights into the nefarious nature of evil and an incisive commentary on Communist conspiracies. For years, the movie was banned following the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

MR. JONES (2020)
MR. JONES is a masterful historical drama about a British journalist in 1933 who travels to Moscow in communist dictator Joseph Stalin’s Soviet Union, where he uncovers Stalin’s man-made famine in Ukraine and tries to tell the world, even though other reporters deliberately hid the truth. MR. JONES is a terrific historical drama celebrating Truth with a capital “T” and exposing the evils of communism, socialism and collectivism, but some incidents involving the reporter have been sensationalized and fictionalized to tell a complex story in a dramatic way, and the movie contains a scene at a salacious party held by the notorious New York Times writer bribed by Stalin to make Stalin’s regime look good.
