Some voices are just iconic, and though most audiences never see the face behind the narration, we’d recognize their tones anywhere.

Such is the case with Andromeda Dunker, the woman who narrates HGTV’s HOUSE HUNTERS and its multiple spin-offs. She’s put her voice acting talents to use since 2009 when she got her start on the network.

“I’ve remained in the shadows,” she told Buzzfeed News in 2017. “The conventional wisdom for voiceover actors is you are kind of heard and not seen. It’s just kind of the way it’s always been.”

She added, “My first year, there was only just HOUSE HUNTERS and HOUSE HUNTERS INTERNATIONAL at that time, and not every day like how it is now. There have been like 10 spinoffs now. So I had no idea it was going to explode into this much work.”

HOUSE HUNTERS sees “individuals, couples and families learn what to look for and decide whether or not a home is meant for them. Focusing on the emotional experience of finding and purchasing a new home, each episode shows the process as buyers search for a home.”

But though Dunker has narrated thousands debates about open floor plans, preferred backsplash options or if a little TLC is worth a house’s price tag, fans didn’t actually get to see her until 2019.

That year, Dunker stepped in front of the cameras, giving fans a peek at her beloved home and revealing her love for garage sale treasures and bright colors.

But Dunker’s skills extend far beyond just voice acting.

Country Living reported several years ago that “…yes, she was named after the galaxy, because her mother is an astrophysicist. And she was somewhat of a child prodigy, going to college at 15 to study linguistics, and later took up a drama major. She’s fluent in French, Chinese, English, and Russian, which helps her to narrate HOUSE HUNTERS INTERNATIONAL.”

Dunker’s voice continues to comfort people as they enjoy their favorite HGTV show.

“A lot of people have told me that they watch it in the background or at night and it lulls them to sleep. I’ve had a lot of people tell me that I’m tucking them in at night or that I’m giving them a big hug,” she shared.

Despite the many recent HGTV show cancelations, HOUSE HUNTERS is still kicking. HOUSE HUNTERS INTERNATIONAL, though, is no longer airing, but fans can watch Season 1 on Discovery Plus.

You can hear Dunker’s voice ever night at 10/9c on HGTV.
