Streaming on Netflix, BACK TO THE OUTBACK is an animated adventure comedy about a group of Australia’s deadliest creatures who are tired of being labeled as monsters by people who visit the zoo, so they hatch a plan to escape back to their home in the Australian Outback. Through courage, the bond of family and sacrifice, the ragtag group of creatures in BACK TO THE OUTBACK learn that family is made up of those who love unconditionally.
In Sydney, Australia, a zoo holds some of the most dangerous animals from the Outback, including a venomous snake, spider, scorpion, a Horny Devil lizard, and also a gigantic crocodile. While the people of Sydney flock to the zoo to see a cute Koala bear named Pretty Boy, visitors are frightened and disgusted by the other creatures.
Maddie, the snake, is discouraged after her first live show, because she scares most of the crowd. Jackie, the crocodile, has been at the zoo the longest and cheers up the creatures with stories of the Outback. While everyone else was born at the Zoo, Maddie was found by the Zookeeper, Chaz Hunt, and remembers a little about her old home.
After Hunt’s son falls in the water with Jackie, people mistake the crocodile’s efforts to save the child from drowning for her attacking. She is taken away from the zoo.
Maddie, Zoe the lizard, Nigel the Scorpion, and Frank the spider all agree they need to escape their enclosures and find their true families. During their escape however, they run into Pretty Boy, who turns out to be arrogant and prideful instead of cute and cuddly. The Koala, who is an internet sensation, tries to stop the group of critters from escaping, but after a sting from Nigel, Pretty Boy passes out.
Unable to waste any time, Maddie decides to take the unconscious Koala with them on their journey. Because everyone loves Pretty Boy, people quickly realized that he’s missing. However, Pretty Boy doesn’t receive the warm welcome he’s usually accustomed to, because the people of Sydney believe he has rabies.
Forced to go along with the other deadly creatures, Pretty Boy and his unlikely companions must work together to find a home and stay free.
