Why Erin Napier Told People to Stop Following Her on Social Media

By Gavin Boyle

On a recent Instagram post where Erin Napier shared a recent date night with her husband, Ben, some fans made the post out to be political, to Napier’s disdain.

“Grandparents had the girls so we had dinner and a good state of the union. And a little sunburn. Also, can non-strategic and inconsequential Instagram posts make a comeback?” Napier said on the post which featured a picture of Ben lounging during dinner.

Ironically, as Napier called for “inconsequential” and “non-strategic” social media posts to make a comeback, Napier was criticised by some fans who misunderstood what she meant when she said she had a “good state of the union.”

These fans believed she meant that the couple discussed the state of America, and found it to be good, rather than what Napier actually meant, which was discussing the state of her and Ben’s marriage. After receiving criticism from those who misunderstood who claimed the country is in a terrible spot, Napier told these people to unfollow her because they were making everything about politics.

“Anyone who thinks this post has a thing to do with politics needs to unfollow me immediately 😄 seriously though,” Napier wrote in the comments, per Entertainment NOW.

Though the Napiers are a very positive couple who do very little to stir the pot, they often find themselves in online controversy because of their strong Christain and conservative values. The parents, for example, have made it very clear that they are going to keep their kids off of technology, and social media in particular, for as long as possible, explaining that the few benefits of its use are largely overshadowed by its downsides.

For whatever reason, the couple themselves are often targets of false claims as well, such as a slew of recent articles which alleged they were getting a divorce.

“Can’t believe I even have to say this but NO, the clickbait articles that we are splitting up are not real, y’all. They are AI-generated and don’t even make any kind of sense. Y’all are smarter than this,” Napier wrote on social media.

“And please don’t ask about it in front of our babies. They don’t understand what ‘online fake news’ means, and it’s upsetting,” she added.

Thus, online controversy is nothing new for the Napiers. They are used to having their way of life attacked and having to defend the decisions they make. Nonetheless, they continue to serve as very positive examples, which is why the continue to garner millions of fans.
