Actor Chad Michael Murray credits God for his career and his role in the series SULLIVAN’S CROSSING.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Murray explained how he prayed for over two years to get the job.

The actor revealed that he prayed for “a show that didn’t feel gratuitous, that was very family-friendly, that ended up in a very beautiful location where my family and I felt like we could integrate into the community… with a cast that we’d all get along and everyone would bond.”

He added, “It was a very specific, very detailed prayer that I put out every single night, and then came Sullivan’s Crossing, and here we are going into season 4.”

Movieguide’s review of SULLIVAN’S CROSSING season 3 reads, “SULLIVAN’s CROSSING is a Canadian drama romance based on the book series of the same name by Robyn Carr and produced by the CW.

Movieguide notes that “SULLIVAN’S CROSSING is free of most foul language, God’s name is used in vain once, and there are multiple instances of characters kissing or making out onscreen. Because of this, “MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for teenage and young adult viewers.”

This isn’t the first time Murray has relied on God for his acting career. Previously the actor revealed that God led him to become an actor after a near-death experience. After almost dying after losing too much blood, he revealed “I started my relationship with God,” Murray said, “and my relationship with my father became really close, because my dad raising five kids on his own came to the hospital every single day and he spent multiple, multiple, countless nights with me.”

Now Murray does his best to honor God in the roles he takes. In 2022, he told Fox News, “I stick to the things I believe in. Let’s just say a piece of material were to come across my desk, which has happened plenty of times over the last 22 years, that I don’t necessarily feel is what I believe or what I’m selling — then that’s not for me.”

He also noted that he makes sure he puts the “armor of God” on, as mentioned in Ephesians 6:10-18.

“I feel stronger and safer walking onto my sets every day knowing that I have God with me every day. Jesus is there with me every day,” he said. “When you have that comfort that you just feel safe, you feel different, you feel the opportunity to handle more, your shoulders are bigger, you can carry more weight.”

Murray’s career is an encouragement that there are still actors out there who are doing their best to honor God in the roles they take.
