In Episode 1 of Season 11, titled “Baby on Board,” Heartland Ranch welcomes its newest family member, Lindy. When Lindy’s father, Ty, thinks he’s he is the only person who can properly take care of his daughter, it creates tension with his wife Amy and the rest of the family. Ty clings to modern technology and information to create the perfect environment, while he ignores the real-life practical help of family members who have successfully raised children.

An exhausted Amy accepts help from Ty’s mother, Lily (played by Megan Follows) with-out consulting with him. Ty’s concerns about his mother’s abilities to help care for their daughter go deeper than his desire to figure everything out for himself. Becoming a new father challenges Ty to face his childhood issues, which involve his mother. In spite of her great effort, it may be too late for Lily to mend her relationship with her son and bond with her beautiful new granddaughter, Lindy.

In spite of her new mom fatigue, Amy takes on a challenge when asked to heal a champion horse who suffers trauma from a car accident. Georgie bonds with the horse, and steps in to help. This new bond takes Georgie to unexpected places.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Tim and Mitch who are equal partners of Heartland Ranch, along with Jack, blow a deal with a major meat packing company when Tim will not let Mitch take the lead. At the same time, Mitch makes mistakes because he lacks the experience and refuses the advice Tim can offer. Jack pushes them both aside and tries to save the deal.
