JOURNEY WITH JESUS is an inspiring, informative documentary that takes viewers through the real locations of Jesus’s birth, life, death, resurrection, ascension, and second coming alongside the Rev. Dr. Tony Evans and his family. JOURNEY WITH JESUS has a very strong Christian, biblical worldview with no objectionable content.
JOURNEY WITH JESUS begins in Bethlehem, where Jesus was born. Pastor Dr. Tony Evans shares commentary from biblical passages that took place in Bethlehem. He adds, “Wear his name, bear his name and share his name,” as he unpacks the Gospel.
Next, cameras go with the Dr. Evans and his daughters, Priscilla and Chrystal, to Nazareth where Jesus grew up. Then, they travel to the Sea of Galilee and have a church service on the water with seven other boats. Later, they travel to Beit Shien and Magdala to discuss where Jesus taught and the followers who made waves for His Kingdom.
Lastly, the Evans travel to Bethany and Jerusalem and discuss Jesus’s humanity as he entered submission to the Father by dying on the cross. Dr. Evans and Priscilla talk about the brokenness of our living in a fallen world with sin, but the hope believers have in Christ. The movie ends by showing the empty tomb of Jesus Christ and the promise of Jesus’s coming again to Earth on the Mount of Olives.
JOURNEY WITH JESUS has great filmic qualities like telling viewers what Scripture they’re referencing by putting them on screen as well as the locations of the journey. There are some melodramatic music moments, but they shouldn’t deter viewers from the powerful content of the documentary. Also, the Evans family has great conversations that help connect the dots from the locations they visit to practical applications of faith that will resonate with viewers.
