What You Need To Know:

The 1934 version of ANNE OF GREEN GABLES opens with Matthew Culbert coming to the train station to pick up a boy he and his sister Marilla had agreed to adopt (in part to help with farm work). To his surprise, the orphanage sent a very talkative, imaginative girl named Anne Shirley. On bringing her home, Marilla wants her returned to the orphanage, but Anne wins their hearts with her wildly spunky, creative character.

This 1934 version of ANNE OF GREEN GABLES is not that far from the introduction of sound in Hollywood movies in the late 20s. Author Lucy Maud Montgomery created one of the most lovably nutty characters of all time in Anne. She has a vivid imagination and a mouth that runs constantly, sharing her imagination with others. The movie features prayer and positive mention of God. It even concludes with a fine example of forgiveness. If you want to share a fun, clean old movie with your family this is one. Viewers should also check out the adorable 1985 television version of ANNE OF GREEN GABLES, which stars Megan Follows as Anne. It’s even better!

Content:

(CC, BB) Strong Christian, moral worldview with themes of love and forgiveness; no foul language; no violence; no sex; no nudity; and, gossip, insults, false accusations, and unforgiveness but they are condemned and resolved through repentance and forgiveness.
