DAVE

Watch:

What You Need To Know:

The movie DAVE plays with the idea of an ordinary person, Dave Kovic, doubling for the President of the United States, but with hilarious, unexpected consequences. DAVE is chock-full of humor and maintains a fast pace. Were it not regretably for a couple of blatant profanities and a discreet sex scene, anyone in the family could watch this enjoyable film.

Content:

(H, B, LL, NN, S) A humanist worldview which makes some good biblical points and contains: up to 10 obscenities & 5 profanities; side view of male in shower, but nothing shown; and, scene with couple fornicating, but nothing visible.

More Detail:

In the movie DAVE, Dave Kovic (Kevin Kline) becomes a foil for U.S. President Bill Mitchell who lingers at the point of death. As the story opens, Dave runs a temporary agency. The secret service is alerted to Dave’s resemblance to the President, and he is tapped to fill in for the President in risky situations. Dave’s job takes an unexpected turn when the President, in a sexual tryst, becomes a stroke victim. Quickly, Dave takes up residence in the White House and discovers that the President and the First Lady (Sigourney Weaver) share only their last name. Shortly after arriving at the White House, Dave finds himself caught between the ambitions of powerful people and his own basic ideas of right and wrong. Chief of Staff Bob Alexander soon realizes that Dave will not be anyone’s patsy; and, his education in the intricacies of power, deception and intrigue transforms the Presidency in a succession of comic maneuvers that rekindle America’s belief in the decency of the common citizen.

DAVE is an enjoyable film for anyone who appreciates subtle as well as overt humor, regretably marred by a couple of blatant profanities and a discreet sex scene. It is a funny, tongue-in-cheek approach to poking fun at America’s time honored political institutions.
