More Detail:

LOVE AND A .45 tells the story of Watty Watts, a small-time thief who robs convenience stores in Texas for a living. Deeply in love with his long time girl friend, Watty is content with their relationship, his modest home and steady income. Ergo, Watty’s credo: “All you need in life to be happy is love and a .45.” However, his life is turned upside down when a botched robbery results in murder. Sought by the police, Watty and his girlfriend flee for Mexico. The rest of the movie recounts their violent journey filled with mayhem, farce and unsuccessful attempts at humor.

Stuck between farce and serious drama, the low-budget LOVE AND A .45 is plagued by a weak storyline, a mediocre script, rampant foul language, and gratuitous violence. Most of the budget was spent, no doubt, on fake blood. The acting performances are only fair and the characters themselves suffer from little or no development. A self-serving, materialistic viewpoint is put forth in the film, with characters believing that happiness comes from meeting material needs and loving someone regardless of the cost. No consideration is given to God or spiritual principles.
