Divorce and single parenting cost U.S. taxpayers about $112 billion each year.
Single parent families get $28 billion annually in Medicaid, $35 billion in other welfare and $9 billion on child welfare. Another $23 billion is lost in tax revenues because such families struggle with joblessness.
