Dave, Jenny Marrs Started FIXER TO FABULOUS To Bring God Glory

Dave and Jenny Marrs are sharing their gratitude for their FIXER TO FABULOUS crew following the show’s Emmy nomination.

“We found out yesterday that our show was nominated for an Emmy award (🤯) and, while that is pretty cool, it’s mostly just a chance to celebrate our peeps,” the couple posted on Instagram. “FIXER TO FABULOUS couldn’t happen without our small-but-mighty team behind the cameras, on the construction sites, and in the edit bay. We love that we get to do this and it’s fun to celebrate every now and then!”

The Marrses shared how their HGTV show got its start eight years ago.

“Eight years ago, we welcomed two camera operators, a sound guy, a producer and a production assistant into our home and into our lives for two days,” they wrote. “They essentially followed us around as we worked and then interviewed us as we sat on our front porch swing telling them about our family and the work we do renovating historic homes in our small town of Bentonville, Arkansas.”

The post continued, “I remember watching the three-minute edited down ‘sizzle reel’ that our production company, RIVR media, would send to HGTV and thinking, ‘this is absolutely crazy. Why would anyone want to watch a television show about our life?’ I also remember being nervous that someone would want to watch a television show about our life. At the time, Charlotte was two, Sylvie was four and Ben and Nate were six. They were babies. Was it wise to open our family up to the inevitable criticism and loss of privacy that must come with a television show?”

In a moment of uncertainty, Dave and Jenny looked to God for guidance.

They prayed, “‘Lord, if this is what you want for us to do, if this will bring you glory, if we can use this opportunity to shine a light into this dark world, then let it happen. If this isn’t in your plans for us, if this is against your will, then slam the door shut.'”

“Thankfully, when the door stayed open, He brought us the best team of people to work alongside of every day,” the Marrses wrote. “This team is truly like family and are some of the hardest working, biggest hearted, most caring people I’ve ever known.”

FIXER TO FABULOUS is up for the “Instructional/How-To Program” Emmy award. To win, they’ll have to beat Chip and Joanna Gaines’ FIXER UPPER: THE HOTEL, Netflix’s HACK MY HOME, Martha Stewart’s MARTHA GARDENS and Alison Victoria’s WINDY CITY REHAB.

“An EMMY nomination is pretty cool but, to be honest, Sylvie and the boys all winning their basketball tournament games this weekend was just as exciting 🙌♥️,” Jenny posted.

The Marrses’ most recent program, FIXER TO FABULOUS: ITALIANO, recently finished airing.

The couple shared some details about the show in an interview with TV Insider.

“Overall, it was a stressful project,” Jenny explained. “If we were just helping our friends remodel their house in Italy, it would normally take two or three years. But we had a production schedule to meet. We had to try to get everything moved up quickly. That was the biggest challenge, trying to hit those production deadlines with an Italian crew.”

Despite the challenges the Marrs’ faced, Dave said they would do projects like this again.

“We love to focus on new projects and things outside of our comfort zone and do something different,” he said. “Europe for HGTV is an untapped market. I think to see us over there in Italy, Great Britain or anywhere doing a project, I would love to. It’s all ratings-based, so if a lot of people watch this, and it does well, we’ll see.”

He continued, “I think people will have a great experience watching the show and learning about an amazing culture. A lot of things I think America can learn from. Just some beautiful architecture, landscapes, and wonderful people. It was a good experience.”
