Disney+ will provide a new way for fans to dip into nostalgia through its new Live TV “Throwbacks” section that plays classic TV shows and movies 24 hours a day.

Screen Rant reports the channel is a “shuffle function” that includes all of Disney’s old shows like THAT’S SO RAVEN, LIZZIE MCGUIRE, DUCKTALES, KIM POSSIBLE, FREAKY FRIDAY, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER and more.

Disney says the collection is “all about ’90s and 2000s nostalgia — think iconic characters, unforgettable stories, and era-defining moments that shaped a generation and continue to resonate today.”

“The Disney+ library has something for everyone to rediscover or experience for the very first time,” it says.

The channel also includes old-fashioned Disney Channel bumpers and the old intros from original Disney Afternoon broadcasts, SILive reported on July 17. Most of the content on Throwbacks stems from Disney Afternoons — weekday programs from the early ’90s. But it also includes content from the early 2000s.

The feature mixes traditional TV with streaming, which may help it keep and gain more subscribers.

Of course, viewers can also just search for any of these shows in Disney+ and watch episodes of their choice, but some viewers may be drawn to the random function. If they can’t decide what to watch, it may be a good option.

Disney+ introduced “Throwbacks” with an LA experience at Rock Etiquette last month, What’s on Disney Plus reported. It hosted talent from some of Disney’s hits in show and movie-themed rooms. Some of the stars who came were Dan Povenmire, David Errigo Jr. and Vincent Martella from PHINEAS AND FERB; Jake Thomas from LIZZIE MCGUIRE; Jason Dolley and Mia Talarico from GOOD LUCK CHARLIE and many more.

Disney is also leaning into nostalgia this summer with its movie and swim experiences with Swimply. It partnered with the company to host three events in LA with movie-themed pools inspired by ALIEN, HONEY I SHRUNK THE KIDS and CAMP ROCK.

Disney+ currently has some big projects underway. It’s working on a new animation, DIARY OF A WIMPY KID: THE GETAWAY, based on the 12th book in the series by Jeff Kinney. This will be the fourth animated movie in the DIARY OF A WIMPY KID franchise, and it’s estimated to release next year.

An animated series, EYES OF WAKANDA, is about to drop on the platform on Aug. 1, Deadline reported. It follows Wakandan warriors throughout history as they preserve and retrieve vibranium artifacts. It stars the voices of Cress Williams, Winnie Harlow, Patricia Belcher, Larry Herron, Adam Gold, Lynn Whitfield, Jacques Colimon, Jona Xiao, Isaac Robinson-Smith, Gary Anthony Williams, Zeke Alton, Steve Toussaint and Anika Noni Rose.

Whether resharing old content or creating new shows, Disney certainly wants to keep fans engaged.
