This NFL QB Is Stealing the Show at the World Cup

What’s not to love about New York Giants quarterback Jameis Winston? The man is full of biblical wisdom, incredible athletic prowess and is truly a man of the people.

For the last 25 days, the veteran quarterback has been part of the World Cup as a Fox Sports World Cup correspondent.

During his time as a correspondent, Winston has brought out a goat to support Lionel Messi of Argentina, wore a blue shark costume for the Cape Verde Blue Sharks and even went live from Seattle to scream “USA from sea to shining sea!”

This isn’t Winston’s first time being a correspondent; in fact, Sports Spectrum said the athlete covered the 2025 Super Bowl and the 2026 MLB Opener with Netflix.

“Can’t wait to be back with @FOXSports team,” he posted on X after he announced he’d be part of the World Cup, “and be part of the biggest global sporting event in the World!”

Winston could find a second career in television after his NFL career concludes, but he thinks that’s still several years out as he hasn’t shown the NFL his full potential yet.

“I believe in the team that’s around me, and I believe in a God that’s providing me with these opportunities,” Winston said on the Sports Spectrum podcast in April of his hope to win a Super Bowl before he retires.

Winston’s career has not gone the way he imagined it would, but the ups and downs have taught him that God is ultimately in control.

“I was so consumed with being liked by my coaches, you know what I’m saying? Being sought in the eyes of my fellow players as a great player,” he said, “that I missed the fact of, ‘God already called me to do this! Why am I trying to go above and beyond to impress somebody that didn’t write this and who didn’t finish it for me?’”

Now Winston uses his platform and wisdom to “create disciples.”

“[God] has given me the responsibility to create disciples in His Name and spread His Word and be bold about Him,” he added. “I’m so happy and grateful that God sent His only begotten Son on this earth to die and rise again for not just me but for all of us.”

Whether bringing his trademark charisma to global sports broadcasting or focusing on his ultimate NFL and faith-driven goals, Winston continues to prove he is a captivating, multi-talented figure with a bright future both on and off the field.
