the Entertainment Industry at 7 p.m. Eastern/Pacific Time Monday May 16 on the Hallmark Movie Channel.

 

Starring Kevin Sorbo of “Soul Surfer, “Sam Steel and the Crystal Chalice” and TV’s “Hercules” as the emcee, the show features Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, the second man to land on the moon, announcing the Best Family Movie of the Year, out of a field of 10 nominees.

The Faith & Values Awards Gala is produced by Movieguide®: The Family Guide to Movies and Entertainment and its sister organization, the Christian Film & Television Commission®.

“I was thrilled and honored to be a host and presenter at this year’s Movieguide® Awards show,” Kevin Sorbo says. “Ted Baehr [founder of Movieguide®] and his team put on a great night, and I’m especially excited that it will air on the Hallmark Movie Channel!”

The show also features the Grace Award for the Most Inspiring Performances in Movies & TV, the Ten Best Movies for Mature Audiences, the Faith & Freedom Awards for Movies & TV Programs Promoting Positive American Values, the $25,000 Kairos Prize for the Best Spiritually Uplifting Screenplay by a First-Time or Beginning Screenwriter, and, last but not least, the $200,000 Epiphany Prizes for Most Inspiring Movie and TV Program of the Year.

The Epiphany Prizes and the Kairos Prize competition are sponsored by a grant from the John Templeton Foundation.

The John Templeton Foundation (www.templeton.org) serves as a philanthropic catalyst for research relating to what scientists and philosophers call the Big Questions. It supports work at the world’s top universities in such fields as theoretical physics, cosmology, evolutionary biology, cognitive science, and social science relating to love, forgiveness, creativity, purpose, and the nature and origin of religious belief. It also seeks to stimulate new thinking about wealth creation in the developing world, character education in schools and universities, and programs for cultivating the talents of gifted children.
