Prosecutors Charge Student with Assault While Copying FIFTY SHADES

Place/Date:  Chicago, Feb. 24, 2015

Cook County prosecutors say a University of Illinois at Chicago student leader has been charged with sexually assaulting a 19-year-old female student in an alleged re-enactment of scenes from the notorious movie FIFTY SHADES OF GREY, about a sadomasochistic affair.

Mohammed Hossain, 19, seemed shocked when his bail was set at $500,000 by a Cook County judge.

Hossain’s lawyer said his client was a “student ambassador to the Alumni Association” and a member of the triathlon team.

Prosecutors said Hossain and the woman had “previously been intimate” and had gone to Hossain’s dorm room at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. At one point, Hossain began striking the woman with a belt and, when the woman began crying and demanded that he stop, continued striking her, even with his fists. When she freed her arms, he allegedly held her arms behind her back and sexually assaulted her.

Prosecutors said Hossain also held his dorm room door shut when his roommate tried to enter the room after the assault.

The woman then left, told another person about the assault and called police.

Hossain allegedly told police he and the woman were re-enacting scenes from FIFTY SHADES OF GREY.
