Olympic gold medalist Sydney McLaughlin and NFL star Andre Levrone Jr. tied the knot last week, sharing lots of pictures on social media.

“& the two became one,” Levrone captioned a picture of the happy couple walking down the aisle. “May the success of our marriage not be gauged by fame, fortune, or flash. But by submission to one another, a supernatural unity, & the pursuit of reconciliation for others.”

McLaughlin echoed his statements when speaking to People, saying, “We’ve been waiting for this day for a very long time, so just excited that it’s finally here and we can say we’re married.”

The couple are very open about their Christian faith, and McLaughlin took the opportunity to thank God in an Instagram post announcing their engagement:

Till this day I still can’t comprehend how someone who possesses everything I’ve prayed for, has finally come into my life. Our growth together exceeds what the dates on a calendar show. I fall in love with you more and more each day off of the strength of your faith. Andre, you are the most God-fearing, passionate, honest, loving, hard working, protective, and genuine man I’ve ever met. I see Jesus in you. And as a result it makes you so easy to love. I truly did not know the definition of love until I met you; a sacrificial choice to lay down your life for the well being of another. With that being said, there is no one I’d rather lay down my life for. The calling God has on our lives goes far beyond our love for one another. This union will impact lives for His kingdom, and that’s what excites me most. I have no fear. I will keep my eyes on you, as you keep your eyes on Him. You’re the perfect man to lead me, and I cannot wait to follow.

McLaughlin rose to prominence last summer as the ultimate women’s track star at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. As Movieguide® reported:

Despite record temperatures causing delays, American athlete Sydney McLaughlin set a new world record for the women’s 400m hurdles at the US Olympic trials.

McLaughlin, 21, became the first woman to break the 52 seconds mark with a record-smashing 51.90 second time.

McLaughlin’s performance surpassed previous record-holder Dalilah Muhammad, and McLaughlin is now the frontrunner to win the event at this year’s Olympic Games in Tokyo.

“This season, working with my new coach and just my new support system, it’s truly just faith and trusting the process, and I couldn’t ask for anything more,” McLaughlin said after the race.

McLaughlin responded to her record-setting time by thanking God.

“The face of a woman who is in awe of God 🙏🏽 51.90,” McLaughlin wrote on her Instagram under a photo of her reacting to her time.

“I could feel this meet was going to be something special… but MAN. Weeks like these are some of the hardest in a track athletes life. The mental strain of preparing for the rounds in order to solidify your spot is heavy enough. But the amount of weight the Lord took off my shoulders, is the reason I could run so freely yesterday,” McLaughlin said.

“My faith was being tested all week. From bad practices, to 3 false start delays, to a meet delay. I just kept hearing God say, ‘Just focus on me,’” she added. “It was the best race plan I could have ever assembled. I no longer run for self recognition, but to reflect His perfect will that is already set in stone. I don’t deserve anything. But by grace, through faith, Jesus has given me everything. Records come and go. The glory of God is eternal. Thank you Father.”
