Tim Tebow: ‘We Get to Choose Our Convictions…Choose to Be Grateful’

Former NFL star and anti-trafficking advocate Tim Tebow is encouraging his followers to be grateful amid adversity.

“You know those days when the alarm clock goes off and you think, ‘I don’t want to get up. I don’t want to do this.’ But we don’t have to live by our emotions,” the former NFL pro shared with an image that says, “Don’t just feel grateful: choose to be.”

“We get to choose our convictions. Some days we might not feel grateful, especially when adversity hits. But we can choose to be grateful, even in the midst of it!” Tebow said.

The star previously shared that there is always something that someone can be grateful for—God’s grace.

“Sitting here in awe of how much we have to be thankful for. Many times a grateful heart starts with a grace-filled heart! It’s so cool the actual word ‘gratitude’ is rooted in ‘grace’,” he said.

“So often we lose perspective, and so many times I’ve missed the mark, but why all of us can be grateful today is because of the unmerited grace that God gives us. We can’t earn it and don’t deserve it, but He is so kind and so faithful, therefore in all things we can be grateful,” he said.

Along with frequently giving spiritual encouragement to his followers on social media, Tebow devotes much of his time to his foundation. Through his foundation, he helps vulnerable people all around the world through orphan care, medical needs, special needs, child exploitation and anti-human trafficking initiatives.

Movieguide® recently reported what motivates Tebow to fight human trafficking:

After more than a decade since he began his fight against worldwide human trafficking, Tim Tebow explains what keeps him motivated to continue fighting for the most vulnerable.

“Over the last decade, I’ve learned so many things in this fight against one of the worst evils in the world,” Tebow said. “I think one of the biggest [lessons] is just how massive this problem is, how even sometimes when you think about it, it almost feels unbearable just how big it is. I think when you realize that it’s happening in our backyard here in Jacksonville, Florida, but it’s also happening everywhere around the world; it feels really daunting.”

“That’s one reason I think we have to remember how big our God is, and we also have to remember the wins, and we have to stay motivated to get to the next [person] because the statistics are daunting, but the life is worth it,” he continued.

Tebow currently looks forward to his foundation’s annual global initiative, Night to Shine, an evening in February where differently abled children can dress up, have a fancy dinner and feel like celebrities.

He said on January 22:

We are just 3 weeks away from the 10th anniversary of Night to Shine. My favorite night of the year!

This year, Night to Shine will be in more than 50 countries and hosted in 700+ church locations. Who will be celebrating with us as volunteer, host, honored guest, or family member?

As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Night to Shine, and look forward to the next ten years, my hope is that you will join us in loving people with special needs, and spreading the worldwide movement to every corner of the globe. We have a big job to do that will not be finished until all are celebrated, until all are loved, and until all know their true identity as God’s royalty. Night to shine 2024, let’s go!
