Matthew West’s New Book Reminds Readers ‘God’s Love Can Rewrite Our Stories’

Christian music artist Matthew West just released a new book that reminds readers how God uses our stories to glorify himself.
The book, “My Story, Your Glory: Discover the Journey God Has Planned for You,” is a 30-day devotional where West guides “readers to discover how God’s love can rewrite our stories while exploring how His glory redeems every chapter of our lives, the title comes from West’s hit single and album of the same name,” the Christian Beat reported.
“There is nothing more inspiring and uplifting than witnessing stories of God at work in people’s lives,” West said. “Our testimonies of God’s faithfulness have the power to embolden each other, carry each other through hard times, and change the world.”
“This is a devotional about your story…a guide to help you remember that your story is being written by the Master Storyteller and that you are here on this earth for a very important reason: to give God glory. Each day challenges you to consider a new truth of what God is currently doing or has done in your life, and to turn the focus of your life toward the glory of the One who loves you,” the musician added.
Through the devotional, West hopes to encourage his readers to see how God has worked and is present in their lives.
“You will have a journal that documents God’s enduring presence in every chapter of your story – a written testimony that you can go back to again and again whenever you need encouragement,” he added. “I’m excited to spend 30 days with you learning how to craft, share, and live a more meaningful and fulfilling story with the one life we get to live. It’s your story for His Glory.”
Last year, West released a song also called “My Story, Your Glory.”
“So much of my career in music ministry has been surrounded by telling the stories of peoples’ lives. This song feels like a full circle moment for me. It’s my anthem and mission in life. I hope this song inspires you to remember your mission here on earth. You get one life and it’s your story for his glory,” he said.

Christian artist Matthew West recently shared a powerful story about a performance he did in a maximum security prison.
“I received an invitation from one of our ministry supporters, who does work at the prison,” he said in an episode of his podcast. “The door opened for me to go into the prison and perform a concert for about 150 inmates. It was an incredible experience.
He continued, “One of the things I remember…they were very specific about what I could bring and couldn’t bring, but one of the things that alarmed me [was] they wouldn’t even let me bring my Bible in. It was alarming because it was like ‘Man, you’re not even going to let me bring God’s word in!’”
West explained that, without his Bible, he “started to realize the importance of memorizing God’s word and hiding it in your heart, because it returns to you when you need it.”
“And I realized that, even though I didn’t have a physical copy of my Bible, it was there, in my head and in my heart, and I was able to quote one scripture of God’s word after the other as I shared my testimony and my songs with the inmates,” he said. “It was a really special time.”
