Mark Wahlberg often urges his fans to pray, sharing his own experiences and struggles. Here are five times Wahlberg encouraged his fans to turn to God and pray.
PRAYER AS PART OF DAILY ROUTINE
“The first thing I do when I wake up is I pray,” the action star recently told Fox News. “I express my gratitude and I ask for direction and I ask for the strength and the ability to do what I’m supposed to do and to utilize the talents and gifts that God’s given me for his purpose and to do godly things and not focus so much on worldly things and I have a lot of responsibility.”
Wahlberg added that he wants to encourage others to “really just try to focus on doing more, you know, doing better,” whether that’s through prioritizing their health, or through pursuing a relationship with God.
PRACTICING DISCIPLINE IN FAITH
During an appearance on the TODAY show, Wahlberg declared, “I do not deny my faith…It’s important for me to share that with people.”
He emphasized the importance of discipline when it comes to incorporating faith and prayer into daily life, saying, “I want to share that with people, whether that’s with fasting, working out more, detaching from other things and just spending more time with God, in prayer or in thoughtful reflection. Those things are important.”
FULFILL GOD’S PURPOSE
“I’ve been put in this position for a reason, and I want to fulfill the purpose that God has chosen for me, and I want to make sure that I can just do better,” Wahlberg said during an episode of THE VIEW.
He added, “We’re all works in progress, and we’re just trying to do better and be better. … My job is to definitely continue to encourage other people to stand up for themselves and to stand up for the right thing, and to make sure that people are trying to be the best versions of themselves.”
‘STAY PRAYED UP’
Wahlberg is one of many Hollywood stars who have lent their support to the prayer app Hallow.
In 2022, he posted a video message on Instagram, sharing, “I’ve been getting a lot of messages from people who have been praying every day and finding peace. And especially sending wonderful messages about doing the rosary with me on the Hallow app. Let’s do the rosary together and stay prayed up. You got to stay prayed up. God bless you.”

SHARING FAITH WITH OTHERS
While speaking to TODAY’s Hoda Kotb, the action star shared that he hopes he’s leading his children by example through his commitment to faith.
“They know that dad can’t start the day without being in prayer, can’t start the day without reading my Scripture or going to Mass,” Wahlberg explained. “And hopefully, instead of forcing that on them, they’ll say, ‘Well, if it works for dad, maybe it’ll work for us,’ and they’ll kind of gravitate towards it on their own.”
