Tom Holland is already anticipating what’s next for Spider-Man ahead of SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY’s theatrical release.
“For whoever’s next, whether that is a Miles Morales or a Spider-Gwen or a Spider-Woman or something like that, I would love to be a part of setting up the next chapter,” the actor told Empire. “Whatever that looks like, I don’t know. But if I could do what [Robert] Downey [Jr.] did for me, then I would be so content swinging off into the sunset.”
Holland’s MCU debut came in 2016 in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. His first stand-alone movie was SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING, which featured Downey’s Iron Man. Holland has reprised Spider-Man six times in the years since.

He was a lot more involved in BRAND NEW DAY’s development compared to previous franchise installments. He found himself in the writers’ room for the first time.
Holland and the producers would “meet once every two weeks to pitch ideas and discuss our ambitions and what we wanted to try and do.” He even pitched an idea that became an integral part of BRAND NEW DAY.
“My pitch when I came to the table with it was called ‘Spider-Puberty’,” he recalled. “What happens if Peter Parker is losing control and things are changing? ‘Spider-Puberty’ was my tagline pitch to the studio, which was immediately shot down. But they liked the kernel of the idea and it grew into what we have in the movie now.”
BRAND NEW DAY releases in theaters on July 31 in theaters. The movie is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Alongside Holland, the film stars Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon and Jon Bernthal.
BRAND NEW DAY is an “entirely new chapter for Peter Parker and Spider-Man.”
“Four years have passed since the events of NO WAY HOME, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves,” the synopsis reads. “Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.”
Whatever comes next for Spider-Man, Holland is ready to help in any way he can, just like Downey did for him.
