The new trailer for SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY is officially the most watched movie trailer in the world with 718.6 million views in its first 24 hours.

That’s nearly double of the previous record — DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE’s 365 million views. BRAND NEW DAY broke that record after just eight hours, Variety reported Thursday.

It’s not just the biggest movie trailer but biggest trailer for anything, ever. The trailer for video game “Grand Theft Auto VI” held that title, until now, for its 475 million views in a 24-hour window.

Leading up to the trailer launch, Marvel revealed tiny snippets. It worked with influencers all around the world as each one tagged the next social media account that would release the next gimpse.

Mexican influencer Alex Arelleno shared a peek, “It’s a brand new day in Mexico City! Check out a piece of the new #SpiderManBrandNewDay trailer! Passing to @sarahfbabeee in Las Vegas, USA next @SpiderManMovie @SonyPictures”

It helped increase the anticipation for the whole trailer.

“Four years have passed since the events of NO WAY HOM, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves,” the logline for BRAND NEW DAY says.

“Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.”

The cast includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando and Mark Ruffalo. It’s directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.

Cretton recently thanked Holland for his “kind, generous leadership on and off screen, for your relentless work ethic, your fearless performances and for your friendship. I’m so deeply grateful for the people who walked with me through the biggest, most rewarding film I’ve ever been a part of.”

He continued, “To our amazing cast, for breathing so much life into these beloved characters and moving us every day. To our unbelievable crew, who worked tirelessly with unmatched creativity and craftsmanship, who made me laugh so hard my stomach never stopped hurting. I love you all so much and can’t wait for the world to see your stunning work on the big screen.”

The movie hits theaters this summer on July 31.
