Marvel announced that it will rerelease AVENGERS: ENDGAME in theaters in September 2026 to get fans excited for the upcoming Avengers movie AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY.

“You remember this feeling. You love this feeling. So do we,” the Russo brothers wrote on an Instagram post that included fans’ reactions across multiple theaters when the Avengers team assembled together to defeat their biggest threat.

“We can’t wait to share this with you on the big screen again…AVENGERS: ENDGAME is back in theaters September 2026,” the duo added.

AVENGERS: ENDGAME brought an end to the Thanos segment of the Marvel story and served as the ending point for multiple superheroes as well. It was also the most successful movie in the franchise, grossing just under $2.8 billion at the global box office. A portion of Movieguide®’s review reads:

AVENGERS: ENDGAME has one unified plot with many characters and themes merging into it. That said, some plot points are unresolved and some storylines are left hanging. At one point, this problem becomes a little tedious and even confusing. ENDGAME also has lots of foul language, frequent intense violence, and some other edgy, immoral content that’s also harmful to children. On the positive side, however, the movie contains an emotionally powerful, morally uplifting main plot that extols family and fatherhood. MOVIEGUIDE® advises extreme caution for AVENGERS: ENDGAME.

Marvel is likely bringing the movie back to theaters ahead of the new AVENGERS movie to hype fans up and get them excited for the next set of movies. Marvel has struggled to connect with audiences since AVENGERS: ENDGAME and needs the upcoming slate of superhero flicks to succeed if it is to remain a relevant franchise at Disney. Luckily for Marvel, the next movie has a lot going for it.

“Everybody is excited, I feel, with the script and having the Russo brothers back. It’s going to be great,” said Captain America/Sam Wilson actor Anthony Mackie. “I’m really excited for what this project is going to be. It’s going to give the audience that old Marvel feeling that they always had.”

While Marvel has taken to crossover storylines for years now, DOOMSDAY will bring these crossovers to a new level as the mainline Marvel storyline will link up with the X-MEN and the Fantastic Four, bringing worlds together that have not interacted in the past. Additionally, Robert Downey Jr. returns to the franchise, however, this time playing super villain Dr. Doom, rather than his beloved Tony Stark.

While fans do not yet know if AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY will really be a return to form for the franchise, it is nonetheless exciting that they will have the opportunity to enjoy AVENGERS: ENDGAME in theaters again and watch the story unfold on the big screen.
