SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY filming is on pause for a few days after a stunt involving star Tom Holland went wrong.

According to Deadline, Holland was taken to the hospital on Friday and diagnosed with a “mild concussion.” He wasn’t admitted but decided to take a break out of caution, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

He did still attend a scheduled charity event over the weekend with his co-star and fiancée, Zendaya.

Execs decided to shut down filming for one week, but the delay will not impact BRAND NEW DAY’s July 31, 2026, release date.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the movie will star Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned alongside Holland’s Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Jon Bernthal joins the cast as Frank Castle/The Punisher. Mark Ruffalo’s The Hulk is also rumored to appear.

Marvel hasn’t shared an official synopsis yet, but longtime SPIDER-MAN producer Amy Pascal said it picks up where the previous movie, SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME, ended.

”We have to deal with the fact that he decided he was going to give up being Peter Parker, and that he was going to focus on being Spider-Man because being Peter Parker was too hard. So that’s what the movie is about,” she said.

Holland has loved working on the movie, describing it as a “really fun process.”

“I did a lot of sneaky research online — looking at what people were saying in the interim between SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME and now SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY,” he said. “I really just kind of put together a vibe of what people were looking for and went to Marvel and said, ‘This is what I think we should be doing.’ And I think that’s exactly what we are doing.”

Holland’s commitment to making the movie the best it can be is apparent through his recent injury, something other dedicated stars experience, too.

Earlier this year, Charlize Theron fractured her toe while filming her latest project, APEX, saying it was a “miracle” that she could attend Netflix’s 2025 upfront presentation in May.

Tom Cruise nearly broke his back while filming a MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – THE FINAL RECKONING stunt.

Fox News Digital reported that special bonus content sees Cruise grabbing a seat belt from a plane flipping upside down.

“This separated the joints in Tom’s fingers from the force, so by the time we finished this sequence, your hands were absolutely swollen – oh my ***, it was so painful to watch,” director Christopher McQuarrie explained.

We’re praying for Holland’s speedy recovery!
