AMERICAN IDOL alum Danny Gokey recently shared a message about faith.
“Joseph was tried,” Gokey shared in a clip of himself at one of his concerts. “Psalms says that he was put in chains and the word of the Lord came to test him. What if you’re in a season of testing right now, like Joseph is?”
He encouraged his listeners to not give up and despair.
“We see step-by-step what happened to Joseph when he [was] raised to power, when he saved Israel by putting up food, advising pharaoh. And when he met his brothers, he said, ‘What the enemy meant for evil, God meant for good,’” Gokey preached on stage.
Joseph knew that when he was put into captivity by the Egyptians, his life wasn’t about him; it was about God.
“It was about the saving of Israel,” Gokey said. “Maybe it’s not about you. God’s promises stand but the ways of God sometimes go through testing.”
He added in the caption, “Your hope might be shaken, but your faith can stay strong.”

Of Gokey’s several songs about faith, his song “Stand in Faith” matches his message about Joseph.
Some of the lyrics of “Stand in Faith” are “It’s a season for healing/ It’s a season for change…/I will stand in faith (eyes on You) /Walk by faith (for my breakthrough).”
Gokey just finished his Hope Nights Tour last week.
His messages about trust and hope have the desired effect. Gokey inspires and encourages people wherever he speaks and sings, and on every platform.
Abortion survivor Claire Culwell wrote on one of Gokey’s posts last week about how he’s helped her to share truth.
“I saw you in the airport today but didn’t want to bother you…When I met my birth mother, she told me that I accidentally survived the abortion that successfully aborted my twin,” she wrote. “I was there when you performed at the March For Life a couple years ago.”
“I shared my testimony at the 2020 March For Life too. So many of your songs have encouraged me in my pursuit of following God’s calling on my life and pursuit of speaking truth in love. I am so thankful for your family and your story,” she continued.
His trust in God has inspired her to have the same confidence in Him.
“I’ve been sharing my survival story for years, and through those years I have found faith and encouragement in your music to keep speaking truth in love and pointing people to Jesus,” she told him. “Thank you so much for living out the gospel in real ways. God bless you always.”
Gokey’s message and purpose are a reminder that even through seasons of testing and trials, God can use every hardship for a greater purpose.
