AMERICAN IDOL Alum Colin Stough Tells Fans ‘God’s Got A Plan’

AMERICAN IDOL alum Colin Stough is going back to his roots with his new single “Promiseland.”
“Man, ‘Promiseland’ describes me and my roots,” he wrote in an Instagram post. “It’s a song about where I’m from and a reminder to myself that no matter where I am or what I’m doing, nothing or no one will change me.”
Talking to Country Now, the singer said he wanted to write a song that “honors” his hometown in Mississippi.
“When I first moved to Nashville, I was missing home,” Stough explained. “So what better way to say thanks to my hometown than to write a song about it? I love the song because it pushes me a little bit. It makes me not forget where I come from or who I am.”
Stough also shared the message he hopes listeners take away from his music.
“One of the main things that I always stress at my shows and whatnot is that tomorrow is not promised,” he explained. “So whether you make that your decision or the good Lord’s decision, the main message I want to send to everybody, especially with the sadder and more heartfelt stuff, is that everybody goes through a certain point in life.”
“I feel like a lot of fans look at artists and think, ‘It must be nice to be able to have this or do that,’ but in reality, I feel like everybody goes through adversity in life. God’s got a plan. So, I really care about the message that I give people,” he added.
The singer elaborated on his connection with fans in an interview with Music Mayhem, saying, “Connecting with fans and hearing them sing my songs is absolutely insane, but my favorite part is probably getting to meet so many of them. People from all over the place…It’s wild they’re all there to hear me sing.”
