Can ‘Goofy’ YouTube Videos Be Worship? Influencers Say Yes

YouTube stars Justin Stuart and Andrew Scites built a massive following on YouTube through their funny videos, but their relationship with God drives it all.

The friends recently spoke with Sadie Robertson Huff on her podcast about how they got started.

“Andrew and I grew up as next-door neighbors, so we’ve been friends for…20-plus years,” Stuart explained. “It seems like a really long time and…even before YouTube, being young little kids we were making our own home movies together.”

As they got older, Stuart and Scites began a YouTube channel while attending school for film and acting.

“I went to film school and Justin did acting, and I did like writing and producing,” Scites said. “The whole time we’re doing this YouTube stuff on the side, and it’s like I just feel like God really kind of was like ‘Hey, this is the entertainment space, like, you’re in it, like, keep going.’”

Their channel, JStuStudios, chronicles their adventures in silly and even crazy situations. Their goal? To bring joy to those who watch.

But even though the friends know they’re following God’s call, it hasn’t been easy. Stuart explained how he wrestled with feeling like he wasn’t doing enough for God.

“I had a season years ago where I felt like I was, in a maybe a legalistic way of thinking, where I almost wanted to give up doing YouTube because I felt like I wasn’t doing enough. I’m just being this goofy guy on YouTube not talking about the Lord. Like, that’s not enough.”

But he soon realized that you can honor and serve God no matter what you’re doing.

“You know, looking back on it now, God has obviously been involved in it… and worked through me through that situation,” he continued. “As believers, everything we do is worship…so my actions on our YouTube channel can be worship. No matter what you do, do it all for the glory of God.”

But beyond their goofy antics on YouTube, the friends really do want their followers to go deeper with Jesus. That’s why they released their devotional “The JStu Survival Guide: 100 Days to Conquer Your Fears, Shatter Your Limits, and Build Your Faith.”

“SURPRISE! Our book is OFFICIALLY available in @barnesandnoble,” Stuart posted. “It’s so wild to see it in here, only in my wildest dreams would I have imagined I’d have a book in a retailer! God gets all glory. I hope it blesses many people!”
