CeCe Winans Encourages Stepping Out in Faith: ‘Embrace Letting Go’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Gospel singer CeCe Winans is encouraging Christians to stand firm in their faith and continue to pursue the Lord even when it’s uncomfortable.
“This is a process, and basically, we all have to get comfortable with not knowing,” Winans said on “Better Together on TBN.” “We have to learn to embrace letting go. And that’s continuing. It never stops because for the rest of our lives, until Jesus returns, I think we get up wanting to be in control. And that’s why we have to take up our cross daily.”
“I don’t think it’s anything that you arrive at as long as we’re in this body,” she added. “I think the process is getting comfortable with letting go, and our flesh never gets comfortable with that, but our spirits, as we mature in the spirit, you understand that it’s always better to go. But it’s something you always have to fight for. It doesn’t automatically happen no matter how old you get, no matter how long you’ve been walking the Lord.”
Jesus addresses what it looks like to follow him in Luke 9:23. While speaking to a crowd of people, he says, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.”
“Faith and trusting in God is not comfortable,” Winans continued. “I don’t know if it ever gets comfortable because we as humans beings we’re used to controlling things and we want to know how everything’s going to turn out before we start out and faith is not being able to see but it’s an inner knowing that God has you but you have to step out. So, faith and trusting in God, I think, is something that will always be uncomfortable.”
Winans has learned to trust God’s plan in her life, even when it is difficult.
“God has wired us all up — He has given us all gifts for a purpose,” she told Liberty University students. “He already has a plan. But we have to take out time to seek His plan and His way and then we have to trust Him enough to open those doors at the right time. I have learned over the years to thank God for the doors that He has opened and to thank God for the doors that He has closed.”
Movieguide® previously reported on Winans:
Last year in 2022, Gospel singer CeCe Winans won yet another Grammy award.
However, the famous singer did not attend the Grammys in Las Vegas, but instead chose to worship God at Liberty University, in Virginia.
“I had already made a commitment to be somewhere else that night,” Winans told Decision magazine…
“It’s encouraging to be recognized by your peers, but to me, it’s ‘to whom much is given, much is required,’” Winans explained. “Winning 15 Grammys definitely gives you more influence in this industry, and even outside the music industry, and so, my question is always, ‘Lord, what do you want me to do with this influence?’”
She continued: “I know that every stage, every platform comes from the call that He has on my life. He’s entrusted me with these opportunities. I just pray that 15 Grammys behind my name will make people remember who He is.”
