New Orleans Saint linebacker Demario Davis praised God during a press conference following his team’s win against the Tennessee Titans for his daughter’s recovery from a seizure.
“The New Orleans Saints linebacker preached a mini sermon during a press conference, taking time to share with the fans and the media about the importance of having a relationship with Jesus Christ,” CBN News reported.
“We play this game on Sundays and it’s really the Lord’s Day,” Davis began in a press conference after the win. “And the day we should be worshipping the Lord, a lot of times, players are getting worshipped…Since so many of us didn’t get to go to church today, I have a word I want to share.”
“Revelation 3:20 says, ‘Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.’ I want to tell you all about a knock I heard this week,” Davis stated.
He continued, “On Friday my four-year-old daughter had her third epilepsy seizure attack. It’s my same daughter who survived retinoblastoma.”
“She’s been totally cleared of [the cancer], but she had her third seizure and it’s been almost two years since her last seizure,” Davis added. “If she would have had no more seizures for one more month, then she would have been off of medicine but now we have to start that clock all the way over.”
She seized for 30 minutes, and Davis’s wife said she stopped breathing twice while on the way to the hospital.
“My wife and I had to stay overnight at the hospital and in the middle of the night, probably about 3 o’clock, I heard a knock, and the knock was my daughter,” Davis explained. “I prayed for her. I said, ‘God, let this just be an attack from the enemy that’s just trying to be a distraction and let him have overplayed his hand and let my daughter my come back stronger than before.”
Davis shared that his daughter started talking in the middle of the night, and her speech was clearer than before the seizure.
“You wouldn’t know anything had ever happened,” he added.
“What I want to share is, we get to play this game and it’s great and there’s so many amazing things that happened in that game and everybody wants to hear about them, but we could leave this game and go back to being regular people,” Davis expressed. “Regular people are living life and people are waiting for a knock and the word says who Jesus is. He’s knocking at the door, all you got to do is get up.”
Davis left the press conference with an encouragement to his fans.
“I just want people to know that if you’ve got stuff in your life, lay it before the Lord. Lay it before the Lord and trust. And be expectant of a knock because the Word says what you have to do is get up and open the door. He’s not going to open the door for you, but He is going to knock. You have to be listening and waiting for the knock…Your blessing, it will be there,” Davis concluded.

New Orleans Saints linebacker Demario Davis is praising God after his baby daughter Carly-Faith was completely healed of cancer.
“We always want to turn adversity into something positive,” Davis said. “And that’s what we want to do is use our platform to bring more awareness. Carly-Faith, she’s doing amazing, 100% healthy, and just praising God for that.”
Carly-Faith was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer about five months ago. Earlier in November, doctors conducted a blood test for a genetic form of retinoblastoma and a tumor tissue test. Both were negative.
“She’s not at risk for any other cancers. She’s officially fully cancer-free,” Davis’ wife, Tamela Gill Davis, told NOLA.com.
