Dolly Parton Finally Nominated for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

By Movieguide® Contributor

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame recently announced the nominees for 2022, and country superstar Dolly Parton finally made the list.

“This year’s ballot recognizes a diverse group of incredible artists, each who has had a profound impact on the sound of youth culture,” John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, said in a statement. “Their music not only moved generations, but also influenced the sound of countless artists that followed.”

The Movieguide® Grace Prize® winner shares the ballot with other first-time nominees including Duran Duran, Lionel Richie, and Carly Simon.

Parton solidified herself as a household name early in her career through her iconic list of songs, movies, and TV appearances.

Despite her busy life, Parton focuses on what’s most important: her faith.

“I have a very rich spiritual life,” Parton told Today. “I’m more spiritual but a lot of times when things get crazy during the day, I just kind of stop and just kind of draw in God’s energy.”

Parton’s faith touches every part of her life, including her home. The country singer has a private chapel in the backyard of her Tennessee home, a friend of Parton’s told Closer Weekly.

“She spends time there, most every day she’s home,” the friend shared. “She not only prays there, but she often goes there to write spiritual songs. [Her husband] Carl goes as well, and it’s their quiet place to reflect, pray, and give thanks.”

Fans can vote on the Hall of Fame inductees every day from now until April 29 at vote.rockhall.com. The top five artists with the most votes on a “fans’ ballot” earn their spot as this year’s inductees to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
