Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts credits his dad, in part, for his Super Bowl win.

“It’s been a few moments he’s cried over my career. A few, a few,” Hurts told TODAY of a special moment he and his dad shared on the field after the win.

“Just the joy that it brought him, that means everything to you because you know that’s a man that was on your side throughout every phase of the journey that’s endured some of those things, as well, and so I’m so appreciative of him and what this journey’s been for us,” the quarterback added. His dad was his high school football coach.

Along with taking home the Super Bowl win, Hurts’ performance on the field also scored him the MVP award.

“It’s been a long journey, a journey with ups and downs, highs and lows,” he said. “You’ve got to be able to use these experiences that you’ve had in the past because they’re all formative for the future.”

He’s relishing the win, knowing how much work he put into getting there.

“You go, meet people and you hear the word ‘champ’ and you just think about how hard you work for that and I think it really kicks in when you celebrate it with your teammates,” the quarterback said.

“Everything happens right on time. You may not want to go through certain things, but you can look at something that’s failure and either win, or you learn,” he added. “But you have to learn from it, and I think some people sacrifice so much and put so much work in and they say they feel like they’re being punished for something .”

For Hurts, his “most memorable moment” of the game came when the win finally sunk in.

“Seeing the confetti fall and putting the trophy in your hands for the first time, going in the locker room and just seeing the party my teammates were having…the focus that we had coming in and then the fun we had when we left,” he explained. “I think that’s what it’s all about.”

He also pointed the glory back to God.

“You know, God is good. He’s greater than all the highs and the lows, and I think, personally myself, I’ve just been able to use every experience and learn from it, the good, the bad, all others, using it as fuel to pursue my own greatness,” Hurts told Fox Sports.
