Gary Sinise Announces Late Son’s Album ‘Resurrection & Revival’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Actor and veterans advocate Gary Sinise recently announced that the album created by his son Mac, who died earlier this year, will ship soon.

“Exciting news, Mac’s album, Resurrection & Revival, is almost ready for shipping,” Sinise wrote on Instagram. “I got to see it in person yesterday, being pressed and packaged, handled with such care, it was all so emotional. I’m so proud of Mac. I know how much this means to him. To all who have purchased an album, thank you.”

In the video, the actor sees the physical album for the first time. He couldn’t contain the smile and emotions that came as he saw his son’s dream come to life.

Mac died in January following a years-long battle with Chordoma, a rare form of cancer.

“He fought an uphill battle against a cancer that has no cure, but he never quit trying,” Sinise wrote. “Mac loved movies, and we always told him he reminded us of the soldier at the end of the extraordinary film 1917, running through the battlefield, bombs going off all around him, knocking him down one after the other, yet he keeps getting back up, refusing to quit and keeps running forward.”

In the last year of his life, Mac returned to music, something he studied in college.

Movieguide® previously reported:

“He created a bunch of pieces of music while he was at college,” Sinise continued. “He just put them away and didn’t do anything with them. About January of 2023, he said, ‘Dad, I think I want to try to finish this music that I worked on all those years ago in college.’”

Sinise gathered his resources and helped Mac refine these songs before recording an album.

“He achieved it. He got it all recorded. Him and his buddy Oliver worked so well together and created this beautiful music,” Sinise explained. “The album, it’s being pressed right now. It’s in presale at the Gary Sinise Foundation right now… As soon as it’s pressed, we’ll start releasing it. Eventually all of his music will be on the digital platforms and everything.”

“He gave his family and friends so much during his 33 years, and he accomplished great things in those final months,” Sinise wrote, per NBC. “Thank you, Mac. You did it. Resurrection & Revival will live on. And so will you. In our hearts forever.
